The Caretos de Podence Carnival Party is held by the community of Podence, belonging to the municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros, district of Bragança. We are facing a social practice related to the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Between Fat Sunday and Carnival Tuesday, in the most colorful village in Portugal, Podence. In the heart of the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes, the much-acclaimed Podence Carnival – Entrudo Chocalheiro is celebrated during Carnival week , where the Caretos de Podence (pagan performance) add color to the village and the many tourists who pass by with their costumes.
