Throughout history, migration - whether forced or voluntary - has been a source of conflict. With global inequality growing, the tides of migration continue to flow at an accelerated pace. Climate change will undoubtedly exacerbate the situation. A rise in populism and protectionism is attempting to restrict cross-border movements - with limited success and leaving a vast number of humanitarian crises in their wake. Some analysts feel the EU is on the verge of collapse as a result of migration pressures. It is one of the most hot button issues in next year's American elections.
Will migration continue to be the major cause of conflict in the future? What - if anything - can be done to resolve the deepening crisis?
