Details
Calling all Vancouver-area search professionals!
Join us for our summer edition of SEOyvr. Come on out and get to know the Search community in a casual, fun, and comfortable environment.
We will be featuring a 20-minute lightning talk at 7pm and there'll be plenty of time to network with peers and make some new friends.
Lightning Talk: Rich cards and the evolution of rich results
In May 2016 Google introduced the concept of "rich cards", a new search response unit that builds "on the success of rich snippets" by providing users with enhanced information about the referenced object in a mobile-friendly format.
Google declared for the first time in the revised documentation which, rolled out in conjunction with rich cards that "a card is the fundamental presentation unit for Search results".
In many ways this marks the biggest change in how Google presents results to searchers since the introduction of the Google Knowledge Graph in 2012.
Aaron's talk will focus on what rich cards are, how they differ from rich snippets, what types of cards are currently supported, and what's required to generate and test rich cards. He'll also take some time to more broadly explore cards, look at the implications of this new presentation paradigm, and what it suggests about the future of Google's search responses.
Agenda:
6:30pm - Networking & Food
7pm - Lightning Talk
9pm - Wrap up
See you there and be sure to tell your friends!
