Journal Club: How Acting on Values Improves Well-being & Life Satisfaction
Details
This event is for everyone interested in learning about psychological science and/or living more in alignment with their personal values.
I am writing a blog post about how acting on values improves well-being and life satisfaction.
The article is based on the results of a psychological intervention in which a group of participants received values training and were encouraged to act on their values, a second group received mindfulness training and practised meditation (a well-known intervention to improve well-being), and a third group acted as control (no training involved).
I thought it would be interesting to discuss the
study and how we could translate it into our lives.
It could also be interesting to collectively develop alternative ways to act on our values consistently.
The scientific article is:
Bojanowska, A., Kaczmarek, Ł.D., Urbanska, B. & Pulchaska, M. (2022). Acting on Values: A Novel Intervention Enhancing Hedonic and Eudaimonic Well-Being. Journal of Happiness Studies 23, 3889–3908. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10902-022-00585-4
Note that reading the article is not required to attend, as I will summarise the rationale, methods, and findings at the start of the event. It is also not necessary to be familiar with statistical analyses, as I will explain the results in simple terms, using my own graphs.
