What we’re about
Hi everyone!
Welcome to Dublin Independent Movie Lovers. This is a group for everyone who loves independent and art-house cinema. We will be organising regular meetups so that members can go see films together, with the opportunity for some discussion afterwards over a coffee or drink (and maybe even some food!). Most events will take place in the IFI, Light House Cinema or Cineworld, with some events being hosted in other venues. A special effort will be made to arrange meetups during the film festivals that take place in Dublin during the year, including Dublin International Film Festival in February/March and the Arabic and French Film Festivals in the IFI in November.
Looking forward to meeting you at the cinema!
Sean.

World Cinema @ DCU: Grand Tour (Portugal, 2024)
Dublin City University, Collins Avenue Extension, Dublin 9, D, IEOur next film is Grand Tour (2024) by Portuguese director Miguel Gomes for which he won best director at Cannes. This is a film with a postcolonial message presented in a light-hearted tone with some comedy and romance! It has been described in a review as a "colonial era hide-and-seek" and I think it lives to this description.
This film will be screened in Portuguese with English subtitles.
