Famous for its incredible historical cities; delightful Uzbekistan is the land of the great Khanates and Sultanates – the kingdoms that controlled the Silk Road of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand.
Once home of the mighty warlore Timur, Samarkand’s highlight is the great Registan Square, surrounded with grand madrassah. Bukhara perfectly captures the atmosphere of Central Asia before the Russian domination, and has many spectacular buildings such as the Kalon Mosque and the Ark Fortress. We will also be visiting Tashkent, the countries capital and the most modern Uzbeki city. The elaborately decorated metro stations of Tashkent are a sight to be seen.
And outside of the cities, Uzbekistan is just as full of surprises – like the traditional villages of the Nuratau Mountains, where we will be staying for a night to experience the lifestyle and customs of the Uzbeki and Tajiki people. Arrive in Almaty and transfer to the hotel. Rest and later in the evening, you have the option to explore Arbat Street, the most popular nightlife district of Almaty. Overnight in Almaty.Day 2: Sept 29th : Almaty – Altyn Emel National Park – Basshi ( 270 kms / 4 hrs )
After breakfast, we leave for Altyn-Emel National Park, about 300 km from Almaty. After reaching Basshi and having lunch, we explore the park. Be ready to be mesmerized by the surreal topography, the different types of red rock formations, colourful mountains, stunning views of canyons, and singing dunes. Altyn-Emel is a national natural park located in the Ili River valley in Kazakhstan. The Park was founded in 1996 with the purpose of preserving the unique natural complex, archeological, historical, and cultural monuments, rare and endangered species of animals and plants. In the Parks territory of 4600 sq km, one can find various kinds of desert and mountain landscapes.
Late afternoon, we visit the Singing Dunes ( Singing Barkhan ) inside the park to hear the sounds and echoes of the singing dunes and to see the mesmerizing topography of the region. Later in the evening, we head to Khan El Khalili Market, one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East. Wandering its maze-like alleys filled with lanterns, spices, antiques, and artisans is the perfect way to tap into Cairo’s soul. It’s more than shopping — it’s a sensory plunge into Egypt’s living history. For dinner, you could try traditional Egyptian food like Baba ghanoush, tahini, stuffed vine leaves, crispy falafel made with fava beans (a uniquely Egyptian twist), Kofta ( mincemeat kabab ), Molokhia, etc. Later, back to the hotel.
