Join the Bedford Hiking Club at beautiful Spring Mill State Park and help kick off National Walk Week ( April 1-7) Participants can do either a 5 or a 10K guided walk Carry water. This shaded trail includes uneven paths, stairs, and inclines. It passes through a virgin forest, a restored pioneer village, and a grist mill. The trail goes by a stream, sinkholes, caves, and around a lake. The walk includes Trail 6, Trail 3, Trail 5, and parts of Trail 4 and 2.
You will start the walk promptly at 10 am Please arrive at the site at least 15 minutes before the start time to register. You can walk at your pace and the idea is to get some exercise and meet new people. A 5K walk is about 3 miles and a 10K walk is approximately 6 miles. There is no problem if you walk a shorter (or longer) distance. It will speed up the registration process (but is not necessary), if you bring two peel-off address labels
Note; There will be additional guided walks throughout the week (April 1 -7) including a walk at 3 PM on April 1 starting at the Nature Center. The goal is to walk all park trails to complete the Spring Mill Trail Challenge. These trails will start at different locations with various distances. You may also do our 5 or 10 K walks at any time on your own by registering at our physical start box located in the Park Office. The box contains a registration log, trail map, and directions for doing the walk. Online registration is also available by setting up a personal account at http://my.ava.org/. Please contact the POC, if you have any questions.
