About us

Some of us live with one foot in Indianapolis and another in a country half a world away. Parents in India who are aging. Property in Dubai we inherited. Cousins in the Caribbean asking about residency. A second home in Mexico that came with more paperwork than expected. A family business in Lagos. Aunts and uncles who moved to Abu Dhabi for work. American friends who keep asking us “should I be looking at Portugal?”

The Indianapolis Global Living Room is a small community for people whose financial and family lives don’t fit neatly inside one country’s borders — and the curious friends who keep showing up to these conversations because they’re genuinely interesting. We meet in person around the Indianapolis metro for most gatherings, with virtual attendance available for members joining from other cities and countries.

What members tend to bring up: international real estate decisions (Dubai and Abu Dhabi come up often, along with the Caribbean, India, Portugal, Mexico, and elsewhere), how to think about property in two countries at once, asset repatriation when money sits in a country you no longer live in, residency and visa programs, what running a business with international ties actually looks like, how aging parents and grown children coordinate across time zones, and the cross-border questions that don’t get clean answers anywhere — currency, taxation, inheritance, and what to ask before trusting anyone with anything important.

Meetups are intentionally small. You’ll introduce yourself, end up at a discussion table with four or five other members, share what you’re working through, and walk out knowing a few people you’re genuinely glad you met. Some events are in person around Indianapolis. Others are open to virtual attendance.

Who shows up: - First-, second-, and third-generation Americans with family or property in another country - Native-born Americans considering retirement, second homes, or investment abroad - Young couples and families figuring out where home really is - Business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals with international ties or cross-border investments - Anyone who finds these conversations interesting

Ground rules: No pitches, no products, no recruiting. Nothing said here is legal, tax, immigration, real estate, or investment advice. The meetings are for friendly, educational purposes. Every member is encouraged to work with licensed professionals in the appropriate jurisdictions before making any final decision. This is a peer community, not a service.
