About us

Indianapolis Global Teahouse Conversations
Indianapolis is more international than it looks. A lot of us — new arrivals, lifelong residents, families
with ties across continents, Americans curious about the world — would love a place to just talk with
people whose lives are a little international, without it being a lecture, a sales pitch, or a cultural
performance.
That's what Global Teahouse Conversations is for.
We meet Saturday afternoons at MOTW Coffee in Carmel, pull a few tables together, and have one
honest, member-led conversation per week. Each gathering is small on purpose — usually 12 to 18
people — so everyone who wants to speak has room to. There's no speaker, no slides, no agenda
beyond the topic for the week and a few prompts to get us started.
What members talk about: family that's split across countries, aging parents far away, kids being
raised between cultures, cross-border decisions about money and property, what it's like to live in
Indianapolis with roots somewhere else, what Americans are discovering about places like Portugal,
Mexico, Dubai, or Vietnam, and the thousand small questions that come with any international life.
Topics rotate each week.
Who shows up: First- and second-generation Americans. Longtime Indianapolis residents who've
lived or worked abroad. Native-born members simply curious about international family and life
decisions. Professionals, parents, retirees, business owners, students, newcomers. Whatever country
you're connected to — or aren't — you'll find people in the room thinking through similar questions.
What this isn't: Not a sales group. Not a business-networking funnel. No products are offered or
solicited. Nothing shared is legal, tax, real estate, or investment advice — we always recommend
working with your own licensed professionals before any actual decision.
Format of every gathering: Short member introductions → one open conversation around the week's
topic → small-group discussion at two or three tables → brief group share-back → informal coffee time
afterward. You'll leave knowing a handful of new people by name.
