More details
This event is part of an initiative called the Indian Championship - a year long event with competitions happening monthly. Indian Championship is being built into an entity for annual multidisciplinary competitions meant to culminate with individuals being crowned Champion of India from 2023 in various categories.
Indian Championship 2022 has chess as a pilot event. A tournament is being held each month for each category and points awarded for wins and draws.
At the end of the year all the points from all the months earned by a participant will be aggregated to determine the Champion of India 2022 (the participant with the highest points in the year across all months in 2022).
In case of any tie, a tiebreaker will be organized.
The Champion of India 2022 in each category will win: (in addition to amounts won every month)
Grand Prize: Rs. 25,000
Runner Up: Rs. 15,000
Third Place: Rs. 10,000
Total Champion Purse: Rs. 150,000
This year, 2022, we successfully conducted the same in January 2022 and are looking to attract more participation this month with the competition scheduled for the last weekend of February 2022.
Three categories - Under 11, Under 18 and the Open.
Under 11 includes 11 and under. Likewise for Under 18.
