Auckland Indie Filmmakers

Hi there fellow Filmmakers.  My name is John, and like you I looove making films.  I took on the organizing role of this group in April 2014, not because I have any great expertise in film making, but because of my passion for it and the value of people getting together to share and learn from each other.

Auckland Independent Filmmakers is a fun friendly and supportive group of like minded people.  We have members ranging from new beginners to industry professionals.  We hold regular meetups where members show short films they have been working on and also discuss projects and network together. From time to time we also host events and competitions where members can get together and practice their film making skills.

Hi there and welcome to Auckland Indie Filmmakers. My name is Brian and I am a HUGELY passionate amateur filmmaker. I became a co-organiser at the end of 2012 to help Florian arrange programs and activities.

The purpose of this group is to provide members with Meetups (to practice using filmmaking technologies), Workshops (to learn about different filmmaking techniques) and Projects (to develop various filmmaking proposals).

Indie Filmmakers is open to anyone who has an interest in making films (Actually, we don't use film. We shoot digital. Sorry.)

Hi there and welcome again to the Auckland Filmmakers Group.

My name is Florian and took over the group at the end of 2012 as it was looking for a new organizer. I couldn't see it going down as making movies in Auckland or in the world is something special here in New Zealand. We have the most beautiful country in the world, most relaxed and creative people and especially people living their dream giving it a go. We should really treasure this, I think?

In this group, we should have a codex of honor, love, and grace to make room for passion and especially passionate film makers. Therefore, 'Independent' shall have nothing to do with greed, mediocre stinginess, or bad quality. It shall stand for that we have the license to be crazy and passionate and that we can experiment.

Hi my names Aidan and I'm the founder of the Auckland Independant Filmmakers group.  I'm a student filmmaker and am currently completing my Diploma in Film at SAE Auckland.  I created this group to meet other budding filmmakers so we can discuss our projects, critique scripts, find crew and cast, discuss and watch films and network.

Filmming in NZ is a very exciting prospect right now and I know finding the right people can be difficult, so that's another reason why I started this group.  And also because I wanted to get a collective of keen filmmakers and crew together so we can all help each other out when we need it, and make some new friends as well.

Although aimed more at up and coming film makers and crew, experienced professionals are welcome as well, the more the merrier!
