For times "Exit Through the Gift Shop offers an absorbing glimpse of a bracingly subversive slice of the culture, as well as some tantalizing images of Banksy at work" - Washington Post The first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut. It tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner - with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the world’s most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview. As Banksy describes it, “It’s basically the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed.” 87 minutes. Rated R. Trailer: Banksy: Banksy Bombs Detroit:

Meetup nice, people warm and charming both. Film weird, and not strictly in a good way! Likely a put on from beginning to end, 40% of the production constituted a light examination of the street art scene with time spent with artists possessed of talent and intelligence, while the dominant 60% of what all suffered constituted quite shameless exploitation of association with the former in an attempt to cash in via the promotion and sale of regurgitated pop art manufactured without wit or thought. Bad infomercial vibe eventually takes over, leaving intriguing Bansky angle to wither in the background. If it were funnier and more sophisticated, perhaps I'd identify it an elaborate put on, but I greatly suspect the disaffection registered by those unsuspecting and talented individuals caught up within the spiral of this manufactured phenom is genuine. Fascinating for all the wrong reasons. Neat meetup though! Thanks Ryan for your kind efforts...

May I suggest Sava's on State St. afterwards? They're having a liquor license celebration party from 9-2, with DJ, free appetizers, etc.
