Lean Coffee - Ask anything about Lean Portfolio Management

Details
Incremental Learning came into existence in 2020 , with one of our founding pillars "supporting our community and having a positive impact" . We believe that each and everyone have their unique learning pathway and experience , and sometimes we don't need to have a formal training environment to create a learning experience . We can also have a more collaborative discussion and let the collective wisdom of the group guide the learning experience .
Incremental Lean Coffee initiative is a step towards that direction of building a community of unique people who have a thirst towards continuous learning and a passion to share knowledge and grow together .
The Lean Portfolio Management competency aligns strategy and execution by applying Lean and systems thinking approaches to strategy and investment funding, Agile portfolio operations, and governance. It is one of the seven core competencies of the Lean Enterprise, each of which is essential to achieving Business Agility. Each core competency is supported by a specific assessment, which enables the enterprise to assess their proficiency.
Most of the Agile transformation , end of scaling either SCRUM or Agile practices but one of the key factors for Business Agility is LPM aligning Vision , Strategy into Portfolio delivering value streams .
What is Lean Coffee ?
Lean Coffee is a structured, but agenda-less meeting. Participants gather, build an agenda, and begin talking. Conversations are directed and productive because the agenda for the meeting was democratically generated.
To begin with , we have scheduled our Lean Coffee during evening time networking every month at 6 pm (Melbourne time) to network and chat. At 6:15pm we start the more formal lean coffee format and we finish at 7 pm .
We Create a Kanban board and people start adding the topic that interests them on that day ( virtual post it notes ) . One of the topics we wanted to explore was Remote Training especially with most of training organizations have moved digital but also can explore any topic ( generally the topics are related to Agile , Lean , System Thinking , Organizational psychology , Leadership development , Transformation etc) or even a problem which they might be keen to get the collective wisdom of the group .
Each participant then have 2 votes ( depending on the number of topics gathered ) and we start discussing based on the priority set by the group . Ideally 5 mins per discussion with a vote at end of 5 mins to continue the topic Or move onto next topic .
History of Lean Coffee -
Lean Coffee started in Seattle in 2009. Jim Benson and Jeremy Lightsmith wanted to start a group that would discuss Lean techniques in knowledge work – but didn’t want to start a whole new cumbersome organization with steering committees, speakers, and such. They wanted a group that did not rely on anything other than people showing up and wanting to learn or create.
