Turn up the Heat on ICE: Protest in Solidarity with Canadians Detained

Details
ICE is lawless, dangerous, and -- thanks to the passage of Trump’s big ugly bill -- about to have a budget bigger than most of the world’s militaries.
One Canadian has died in ICE Custody. Fifty-five others have already been detained indefinitely, without due process. Join us to demonstrate in solidarity.
Thursday July 17th 4:30-5:30 PM
In front of the US Embassy
490 Sussex Dr, Ottawa
Last week, the White House passed a bill which issued US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) an extra $75 billion, making it the highest-funded law enforcement agency in the federal government. The Trump administration has now set a quota for ICE to arrest 3,000 people per day. Many of those arrested will be held in facilities that meet the definition of concentration camps.
Join our demonstration in solidarity with the 55 Canadians, and thousands of others being held in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Custody.
On June 23rd, Canadian national Johnny Noviello died in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Fifty-five more Canadians are currently detained. They join the 57,861 people of other nationalities being held, in ICE Detention facilities.
Paula Callejas, a resident of Montreal, has been denied her prescribed medications. Cynthia Olivera was arrested when she arrived at her appointment to file her green card. Like 71.7% of those held in ICE Detention Centers, neither woman has a criminal record. They were arrested without due process, and are being held indefinitely.
Thanks to everyone who came out to Indivisible's No Tyrants / No Kings protest in June. Join us again on July 17th in our Good Trouble protest against ICE as one of many reverberating around the globe, waking up millions of people who will not allow authoritarians to oppress and mistreat other human beings.
*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
