What we’re about
"The Buddhas know all phenomena come from interdependent origination. They know all world systems exhaustively. They know all the different phenomena in all worlds, interrelated in Indra's net." - The Flower Ornament Sutra
John Muir once wrote that when we try to pick out any one thing, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe. It's rather easy to see how rain, earth, and sun all connect in the form of a flower. But where do we as humans fit in? What are we hitched to? What role do we play in this interpenetrating network of life?
If we are to begin exploring these connections, it is imperative that we begin by establishing a deep intimacy with the world around us. Reading a book or watching a video isn't enough. We need to get dirt under our fingernails. We need to touch, taste, and smell. And we need to do it in the company of other people.
This group is dedicated to fostering these connections through foraging, plant ID, nature study, medicine making, and all of those other strands that connect people and place.
