Raritan River Rendezvous

I know some of you have boats - canoes, kayaks, rowboats, etc. Let's get together and get them in the water. For this meetup, we will be embarking (from the French embarquer - lit. "get in a boat"; you know I couldn't resist that one!) on a 6 mile venture down the Raritan River. We'll be putting in at the Riverside Park Kayak Launch at about the intersection of Easton Avenue and I-287 and paddling down to the end of Johnson Park.

I know this is NJ - not exactly the howling wilderness - but do bear in mind that the Raritan River is a serious body of water and should be taken seriously. Life vests are required for our little shindig. The three hour timeframe is probably adequate, but I'm in no hurry. I hope you aren't either!

For those of you who do not have boats, I have two extra canoes I can lend out, but I only have one extra paddle and no extra life vests (though I will see about nabbing some off Craigslist in the next couple of days). If you'd like to borrow a canoe, have a roof rack on your car, and possess the proper accoutrements (I'm feeling so French today!) shoot me a DM and we can work out a pickup time.
