Owen-Putnam State Forest

Dear hiking friends-

Today we will hike the Owen Putnam upper loop trail. This is considered a moderate route, with an elevation gain of 1,151 ft, and a distance of 8.2 miles. This loop is a mountain bike/horse trail. Depending on the amount of recent rainfall, I would anticipate muddy conditions.
Please bring a pack, snacks, and enough water for a hike of 3-4 hour duration. Waterproof boots and trekking poles are recommended.
We will find a local restaurant for a late lunch after the hike, for anyone who'd like to join us.
