The Indianapolis Head for the Cure 5K on April 6th at 9am at White River State Park will help to raise money and awareness for brain cancer research at Riley Children’s Hospital and IU School of Medicine. Brain cancer is one of the most common and deadliest forms of cancers in children, leading to reduced quality of life for those diagnosed with it. By volunteering for and participating in this 5K, you are directly supporting research and programs to help cure this terrible disease and support the patients and families that it affects. Volunteer Check-in Check List
Setup: This station is responsible for table set up, signage, and general set up before the race starts.
● Sign-in volunteers & give volunteers shirts
● Send to trailer after signed in to help unload
Hospitality: This helps prepare, replenish, and serve the food and beverages we provide at our events.
Kid Zone: This station helps with any kid activities we have at the event (face painting, sidewalk chalk, yard games) as well as with the kids run, which takes places once the 5K run/walk is finished.
Water/Aid Station: This station is in charge of placing all water, cups, and troughs at the water stops and handing out water on the course
Course Monitors: This station is responsible for monitoring and making sure the runners stay on course.
Merchandise: *MUST BRING PERSONAL CELL PHONE* Sell merchandise using a phone chip reader.
● Have at least one person stay at merch after tearing down registration
Registration: This station helps us get people registered on race day morning.
● After race start have them tear down tent and tables
● Put race t-shirts in merch tent
● Have one person from Registration stay at Merch
Packet Pickup: Volunteers will help hand out packets and t-shirts to registered participants.
● At 8 a.m. have them tear down tent and tables
Finish Line: This station is responsible for assisting the race director and other duties needed at the finish line.
● Direct to finish line area
Clean-Up: This station is responsible for cleaning up trash, tearing down tables, chairs, and banners. With a lot of hands, clean up can go by really quickly
