What we're about

An artisan is a craftsman who creates premium, handmade goods.

In the context of software development, an artisan strives to bring the same level of care and quality to their day-to-day work.

This group aims to bring together forward-thinking developers of all levels to share best practices and embrace continuous learning.

We were born out of the ALT.NET movement, but quickly morphed into something more broad, with a much larger focus than .NET. We talk about soft things like career management and team dynamics, and hard technical things like scaling with Erlang, and domain driven design.

You'll have an opportunity to interact with like-minded group members by communicating your thoughts and opinions and presenting things that are important or interesting to you. Plus, free pizza and door prizes! For more information, see http://indysa.org .

Lightning Talks (with less actual lightning!)

Let's try last month's event again, hopefully without a massive storm this time! This month we've got lightning talks presented by... anyone! If you've got a topic you want to share, tell us about it in a 10-15 minute presentation. Sign-ups will be in person, on one of the whiteboards. If the same people show up as last time, at a minimum we'll hear about: * An apprentice engineer's experiences from his first 5 months of switching to a programming career * Common patterns learned from using a half-dozen source control systems * The Unity Engine's HPC#/Burst - a bold strike at killing C++ As always, we'll start with pizza and socializing (Social Pizza™) at 5:30pm and some short intro stuff around 6. Location Details: SEP is located directly south of the Palladium, in the building that is attached to the parking garage. Enter from 3rd Ave SW.
