What we’re about
Ink & Paper Writers provides affordable, accessible events for writers of fiction. We strive to fill a gap in the plains states and provide alternatives to a long, expensive writing retreat requiring significant travel. Our retreats are open to all writers, regardless of experience or publishing status, and regardless of genre or age-range. We aim to uplift regional authors and provide an inclusive experience where all feel welcome.
Registration is open. Spend a day focused on your writing, connecting with other writers, and learning from an award-winning local author.

The 2025 writing retreat will be held at Veseli just outside of Springfield, NE. Ten minutes from Omaha/Interstate 80, this is a dreamy venue for a writing retreat. This beautifully converted farmhouse is full of Pinterest-worthy sitting areas and cozy nooks for writing, as well as a scenic patio. Our programming will be held in the large walk-out basement event room with a wall of windows overlooking the Nebraska landscape.
Faculty: Allison L. Bitz
Keyinote: The Resilient Writer: Strategies for Working Through Challenges to Creativity
Allison L. Bitz is the award-winning author of Three Things About Emmy Crawford and The Unstoppable Bridget Bloom (which won the 2024 Nebraska Book Award and a Best Children’s Book of the Year award from the Bank Street Center for Children’s Literature). Her YA contemporary romances tackle issues such as body positivity, chronic illness, and mental health.
Allison hails from Lincoln, NE, where she lives with her spouse, two kids, and various rescue pets. When she’s not writing a novel or a song, Dr. Bitz is helping clients in her private counseling practice, planning some form of political action, or trying to track down a pastry to enjoy with her coffee. If you can’t find her at a party, check the floor—she’s probably hanging with the dogs. You can learn more about Allison at www.AllisonLBitz-author.com, or follow her on X, Instagram, and TikTok at @AllisonLBitz.
Allison will be speaking on resilience and a flexible mindset during the writing process in her keynote, The Resilient Writer: Strategies for Working Through Challenges to Creativity.
