Our upcoming meetup is all about stories in city neighbourhoods and how to maintain these.
To what extent is our gentrifying city changing these stories? Can we co-create a resilient city, where our current stories will survive?
Join our meetup to hear from two experts in this field: Najah Aouaki and Saskia Beer. Extra: introduction by Noortje Boer.

β†’ Noortje Boer - Mobile Design Agency and Window Shopping:
Noortje Boer (LAVA) will give an introduction for this evening where she will share the story of the project Mobile Design Agency, where amidst the lively crowds of Dashilar hutong villagers, the designers of LAVA Beijing made logos for the local businesses. And the project Window Shopping, where the designers went around the hutongs to design and give some colour to the shops of small businesses who were forced to be bricked up and left with only a window for shopping.

β†’ Najah Aouaki - Javakwartier.nl
A baklava bakery next to a Scandinavian interior store. The Javastraat in Amsterdam has been undergoing major changes in recent years due to a "new" group of residents and shops. Najah Aouaki, initiator of platform javakwartier.nl, is committed to preserving the characteristic diversity of Javastraat. Since 2015, she has been active in Javastraat to help modernizing long-term entrepreneurs.
She will share this evening how she focusses on the stories of these local entrepreneurs, and how she helps them to successfully share these with the "new" resident groups.

β†’ Saskia Beer - TransformCity
Saskia Beer is an entrepreneur and founder of ZO! City and TransformCity. She launches local projects on her own initiative to make the city more attractive, inclusive and resilient. She will share this evening how she uses a mix of engaging storytelling, sessions, interventions, design and tooling to gradually shape a shared future vision. TransformCity believes that the power of an actively and creatively engaged local collective, with all parties included, allows you to co-create the resilient city of the future.
