Philosophy Nights ! (Theme: Artificial Intelligence Night)

Dear Friends of the Philosophy Meetup!
It's with great joy that we announce another Philosophy Night! We continue to be humbled by the people who tell us that their Saturdays just aren't the same without their weekly dose of philosophy and community.
To that end, we are currently partnering with Maison de l'Afrique in Rosemont (a few mins away from Beaubien station).
Meetup fee 12.00$
Fees maintain our operations and black coffee, tea and some snacks are included.

Theme: AI
Topics:

1. Findings friends in and falling for the models
   - Let's interrogate our growing dependence on AI. Whether it be a helpful assistant, a friend for the lonely, a 24/7 therapist, or a substitute for lacking love, people are increasingly turning from humans to AI for their needs, why?

2. There's no 'AI' in Art
   - Of course you'd never fall for AI slop, right? Right??? Let's dive into some of the recent developments in AI art while discussing its role in aesthetics and whether we can tell it apart from human-made art.

3. Enough with the doomerism, already!
   - We often spiral into doomsaying the end of days and the AI takeover when discussing AI, but let's flip the script and find some hope while discussing normative uses of AI in daily life, work, creativity and more.

For those not familiar with the format, here is how the night will work:
Topics don't need to be strictly philosophical, they can be social, political or historical, anything that the group decides is worth discussing.
- Maison de l'Afrique then closes but we often continue into the night at a local pub/eatery.
So come by to see old friends, make new ones and have stimulating discussions with amazing open-minded people from all walks of life!
