Mindfulness, Concentration and the Monkeys of the Sacred Forest
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.” - Rumi
What a perfect time - this is for practice: the world seems to be a mess. This is the ordinary and unavoidable dukkha that the Buddha tells us about. If we attend to it all unwisely, our minds can churn in failed attempts to find peace in the midst of the day’s most pressing drama. The Buddha invites us to find ways that “promote discernment, abandon vexation, and lead to unbinding.” In this evening’s offering, we will explore ways to do that: with a little help from the monkeys.
