InSight #1: Vision Pro - FT Money Machine, Gaëlle Mourre, StorySight

For the first edition of InSight we will have demos from three speakers, followed by time to meet other attendees over a drink.

The speakers:

Alan Smith OBE, Head of Visual and Data Journalism, Financial Times: In 1949, a little-known engineer astonished the world’s leading economists with the first-ever computer model of a national economy. Seventy-five years later, the FT and its partners have made a virtual reality twin for the Vision Pro. Alan and his team will tell us about the background of the project and the technologies used to bring the Money Machine to life.

Gaëlle Mourre and Quentin Darras: Gaëlle and Quentin co-created the VR animation series (Hi)Story of a Painting. Episode 2: The Light in the Shadow is narrated by DJ and singer/songwriter Cerys Matthews and premiered at SXSW 2022 where it was awarded the Special Jury Recognition for Immersive Storytelling. They will be telling us about how '(Hi)Story of a Painting' came to life.

Tom Holmes, Software Engineer and TEDx Speaker, Loomery: Tom created StorySight, an immersive book-reading app that places you right in the world with 360-degree skyboxes based on the time and setting of the novel you read. Tom will share how he built the app and how he brought a ChatGPT-powered learning assistant into the app.
