How to make the transition from “ordinary heart" health to “extraordinary heart” health
I am so thrilled that David Johnson, MD who is my wonderful friend, an integrative cardiologist, and my classmate from the Andrew Weil Integrative Medicine Fellowship, is coming from Holland, MI to give a seminar here in Charlotte!
David has had his own incredible personal journey through traditional medicine and is now following his passion solely doing integrative cardiology. In addition to his Andrew Weil training, he has studied whole food plant based nutrition, he has done several vision quests, and recently completed a year long immersion program with Animas Valley Institute cultivating leadership through the soul-discovery process. He has also completed a certification course in authentic leadership through Naropa University in Boulder, CO.
For this talk, Dr. Johnson will discuss the transition from “ordinary heart" health to “extraordinary heart” health.
· Traditional medical approach
· The new cardiac guidelines
· The basics of risk identification in developing heart disease vs heart wellness
· Shifting from “outer” world influences of health to “inner” world influences
Dr. Johnson will facilitate a collaborative and meaningful discussion afterwards.
He feels one of the best ways to deliver a presentation is through dialogue in order that those attending may explore processes to help themselves or those they care for on their inner journey toward health and wholeness. He feels it is more about reciprocity, or learning from each other, than authoritatively providing the “expert opinion”.

About Dr. Johnson:
Dr. Johnson entered into the medical profession over 25 years ago (1986) to pursue a career of great humanitarian significance. Over the course of training and subsequent practice he was molded into a reductionist thinker trying to isolate specific biological causes to explain an individuals ailment. Furthermore the development of evidence-based medicine became widely disseminated into the daily practice of medicine with accompanying guidelines. In this context, he has contributed to starting several successful hospital-based medical programs. However, he witnessed in his own journey and those of his patients the limitations of the traditional medical model. His journey has opened the doors to of the many healing strategies that are widely available but underutilized. As an integrative cardiologist, I believe that health is a result in learning to follow your own heart’s path, rather than suffering from it.
