Is psychiatry witchcraft? Early interpretations of mental illness focused on demonic possession. Today we talk about neurotransmitters. Why is there such a big change? Do we live in a society where new means of explanation are needed to make something that doesn't completely make sense to anyone make sense? There's no difference in outcome between people given large doses of anti-psychotic pills and treatment and people getting none in third world countries. In fact, people in third world countries do slightly better. Why is this? Are we given bullshit reasons to take medications that can be very harmful and even cause catastrophic consequences?
