Whether you're an experienced poet or writing your very first poem, you're welcome to join us for the first InterArts Workshop.

In this session we'll explore how subject (love, loss...), perspective (lyrical, narrative...) and voice (elevated, conversational...) shape a poem. We'll discuss different choices for each concept, look at a few examples and then spend time creating our own work.

Tentative program
• A short introduction to poetic subjects, perspectives and voices
• Reading of a few example poems
• A 15-minute writing exercise (one stanza)
• Reading of our work aloud in small groups
• Discussion of the results
• Longer exercise (up to 1h)
• Open writing and discussion

The emphasis is on experimentation rather than perfection. This is a supportive workshop where everyone is encouraged to try ideas, share work if they wish, and learn from one another.

Please bring something to write with—a notebook or laptop is fine.
No previous experience with poetry is required.

PS 1: If all spots are filled, please join the waitlist. In case of sufficient interest, I'll repeat the topic in another session soon.

PS 2: The location will be posted later, but we are looking to reserve a meeting room in a public building around Ueno area.

PS 3: I may post a google docs link later with materials for consultation or other goodies.
