Grief can be particularly difficult to navigate. This Book Study has been developed to assist you through the seven stages of grief and beyond. This course is designed as a community-based group, rather than a religious-based group. The group will meet weekly and offer home practice for mindfulness and/or contemplative prayer.
The author of MIndfulness and Grief, Heather Stang, will be joining us for our final class on Wednesday, March 10th.
Who Should Attend? Anyone who has experienced or is currently experiencing loss and grief. This course will help you navigate through the holidays and to transform your life. Please call (401) 486-2708 to register for class.

B. Meeting Themes:
• February 3, 2021 - Mindful Awareness: How to Find Refuge in the Present Moment – will provide training in guiding a person to use their breath and body as a safe harbor when overwhelmed and unsteadied by grief.
• February 10, 2021 - Conscious Relaxation: How to Care for a Grieving Body – will teach relation techniques that will help to release tension and steady the mind after a loved one has died.
• February 17, 2021 - Compassion and Forgiveness – Attending to Grief with Loving-Kindness will provide guidance through meditative practices that will open a closed heart and engage the healing power of loving-kindness towards self and others.
• February 21, 2021 - Skillful Courage – The Dance of Strength and Vulnerability will provide coping skills with grief as a person moves up and down between hope and despair.
• February 28, 2021 - Getting Unstuck – Tending to the Five Mental Hindrances to transform resistance to curiosity. Releasing barriers and create opportunities for personal growth and awakening.
• March 3, 2021 - Meaning Reconstruction: Learning to Live After Loss – explore the processes of sense making and benefit finding to help honor a loved one while continuing life’s journey.
• March 10, 2021 - Final Meeting. Meet the author, Heather Stang. Mindfulness practices and Questions and Answers.
Post Book Study Skills and Strengths - Allowing Transformation: Who Am I Now? Rewrite the post-loss narrative and tap into the power of meaning-making during a period of uncertainty and change. Perpetual Mindfulness: Practicing Beyond Grief will help a person develop a relationship with mindfulness practice to live life with equanimity and transcend common “practice pitfalls.”
