WALKING TOUR : The Magical World of Croix-Rousse

REQUIRED: Annual Cultural Fusion Digital Pass (Suggested Donation: 10 euros, you can pay in cash at any of our events or ask Johnna for her PayPal or RIB. A one-time donation covers all our events in both International Hangout and Coffee and English for all of 2023).

1:00-4:00pm Walking tour from the Opera House at Pl. de la Comédie through Croix-Rousse, passing through the most secret and beautiful passages known as "traboules". Then, we will highlight the silk industry, French Resistance, and Christian church history. We will see the Roman amphitheater built in 19AD to honor the Roman emperor, Tiberius.

The same amphitheater was the stage where 48 Christian martyrs died including the famous saint, Blandine. We will cover historical names such as Polycarp, Ireneaus of Lyon, and Roman emperors such as Tiberius, Claudius and Marcus Aurelius. The Museum of Canuts, Polycarp church, and the CroixRousse Market are also some of the sightseeing locations on this walking tour.

4:00-4:30pm Questions and Social Time (We usually grab a drink together after the tour for those who are interested).

Please BRING WATER!

There are many stairs and a lot of walking up and down hills.

You will not need a workout at the gym for 2-3 days following this tour. :)

We will end the tour in front of Hotel de Ville and the Opera House.
