Containers in a Kubernetes World
Presented Peter Larsen

For about 10 years, the IT industry have flocked to container based on a brilliant idea by the people who founded Docker. Since then, it's become a standard component of IT today; Linux has proven to be an agile platform that makes containerization easy - but with success comes challenges. Running and managing thousands of workloads using containers is hard. Networking, storage, fail-over, load balancing etc. are all key aspects of IT and just running containers on a set of hosts will not make this life easy particular as the workload count grows.

Kubernetes - the modern version of Google's BORG - is a runtime platform for containers. It's built to satisfy the need to run and manage containers. It's a standard and implemented by many vendors, both cloud and non-cloud vendors. And it can feel overwhelming to use.

We'll look into what it takes to make your container CLI kubernetes friendly and some of the key aspects to know about Kubernetes to configure it properly for your workload. While by no means a comprehensive overview, it will be a starting point for beginners or for those with some experience to connect the dots.
