STARTING POINT: Place Bellecour in front of the Tourism Office
10-10:30am: Introduction to Lyon (the most important historical, geographical, and tourist information plus practical tips for discovering Lyon to its fullest)
10:30am-1:30pm (estimated end time): Walking tour from Bellecour through Vieux Lyon, stopping at some of the most ancient church buildings of Lyon. We will see a baptistry from the 4th century, for instance. I will explain the history of the early church and religious wars in France, and take you to the place where Henry the IV got married for the second time.
After visiting some of the secret passages known as "traboules", we will walk toward Croix-Rousse highlighting where several social movements and the silk industry began. Next, we will stop by the Fresque des Lyonnais (mural) and end up at Place Terreaux in front of Hotel de Ville and Beaux Arts Museum.
NEAREST METRO AT THE END OF THE TOUR: Hotel de Ville.
Bring food to snack along the way or ask me to put in a brief stop when you get hungry.
A bientôt!
