In Person Interfaith Sufi Zikr and Meditation, Manchester 7.15pm 5th June

Details
I'm offering a monthly in-person interfaith meditation, centred in sufi zikr - a practice of connecting to the heart through reciting "divine names" in Arabic. We received it from old teachers in the tradition of the Whirling Dervishes in Turkey, the followers of the poet and mystic Rumi. It was given to us in a way which could include people of different faiths or spiritual traditions, and it's a pleasure to be able to continue that openness. The session will also include some more Buddhist-style guided meditation to begin and become present, and a period of silent meditation. Introduction to the practices and discussion will be given too.
For those coming to the monthly online calls with Jeana Moore, you might be interested to know that Jeana too has sufi connections, having been introduced to the great Turkish teacher Muzaffer Ozak al Jerrahi from Istanbul in the 1980s, and knowing closely Ozak's student and American representative Lex Hixon. Jeana made a sufi pilgrimage to Jerusalem - she might talk about it some time!
All are very welcome. There's no charge, but a donation for £5 if manageable would be much appreciated towards the cost of room hire. We'll likely go for coffee and cake at a nearby cafe afterwards.
