Monthly International Online Zen Circle
Details
A monthly session to come together to explore a vision of spiritual practice and peacemaking in our lives, sharing conversation, zen and other meditations as a tool towards understanding the deep interconnectedness of all life.
The October session will give an introduction to the "Three Tenets", taught by the late Zen Master Bernie Glassman to convey the core of zen practice and vision: Not Knowing, Bearing Witness, and Loving Action.
The sessions will be led by Roshi Jeana Teiju Moore, a grandmother in her 70s who has lived through many great spiritual eras, and who is a successor to the renowned socially engaged Zen Master Bernie Glassman in the Japanese Soto Zen tradition coming through Taizan Maezumi Roshi. Roshi Jeana is well known for her long walks across America and Europe to raise awareness for bone marrow donors. She was a live-in student at the Zen Center of Los Angeles in the early days with Maezumi Roshi, then supported Bernie in creating the New York Greyston Zen community.
Later Bernie invited her to help create the Zen Peacemaker Circles, for which she helped facilitate circles in the Middle East and Europe as well as in the US. She helped establish the annual Zen Peacemakers Bearing Witness Retreat in Auschwitz-Birkenau.
As well as serving as an elder and teacher in Bernie's groundbreaking non-hierarchical Zen Peacemaker Circles, she completed her traditional zen studies with Roshi Paco Lugovina, who empowered her as a Sensei and finally Roshi in the lineage of Bernie Glassman and Taizan Maezumi.
