We will start hiking from Rüsselsheim Bahnhof towards East, straight into the forest surrounding Frankfurt Airport (FRA) walk along its southern flank, cut through Zeppelinheim, along Waldstadion, along the Main South Bank, cross Friedensbrücke and finish our hike at Frankfurt Main Station. There we will reward ourselves with a celebratory dinner at a restaurant. Since we will be hiking along the southern perimeter of FRA, there's an opportunity for plane spotting.

Please make sure to wear hiking gear, a hat, and carry supplies. This is an advanced hike.

Summer isn't over yet – and we're going to make the most of it! Next Sunday we're hopping on our bikes for a fantastic group ride, and circling around the impressive grounds of Frankfurt Airport.

What to expect

Imagine cruising along on a beautiful late summer day, the warm sun on your face, a light breeze in your hair – and every few minutes a massive aircraft thundering overhead on its way to destinations around the world. There's something truly special about riding in the shadow of one of Europe's busiest airports. It's a ride that combines great scenery, good company and a little bit of aviation magic.

Model Airfield Fest ✈️

Let’s head out to a beautiful model airfield just outside Frankfurt for their annual festival!

Set in a wonderful location with fantastic views across Frankfurt and the surrounding countryside, this is a great chance to enjoy a relaxed day outdoors and see something a little different.

Expect lots of amazing model aircraft, impressive flying displays, and plenty to see on the ground. And of course, there’ll be the usual German grill, snacks, coffee and cake to keep us fuelled throughout the day. 🇩🇪🍖☕️

Whether you’re already into model aviation or have never seen these aircraft in action, it should be a really fun and interesting day out.

Let’s go enjoy this wonderful place, watch some great flying, grab some food and spend a very nice day together! 😊✈️🌳
