David Murray is recognized as one of the most influential figures of the American jazz avant‑garde over recent decades, with a career linked to icons like Cecil Taylor, Anthony Braxton, Oliver Lake (as part of the World Saxophone Quartet), filmmaker Robert Altman, and writer Stanley Crouch. In the International Jazz Festival of Madrid, he returns with a quartet format (no vocals) to present material from his latest album, “Birdly Serenade.”

The group performing in Madrid is the same ensemble that recorded the album:
David Murray – tenor saxophone
George Burton – piano
Luke Stewart – double bass
Russell Carter – drums
