Finding Inner Peace

As we go from activity to activity, as we are busy with the routines of work, shopping, driving, appointments, eating, sleeping, cleaning, etc. we can lose focus on what exactly is the point of living, what is the point of all this activity.

For thousands of years those who were cherished as "wisdom keepers" in all traditions have repeatedly pulled us back towards the goal of finding inner peace. In these modern times technology has developed to manipulate us to maintain our attention for profit. The constant barrage of news, sports, entertainment, music, television, the internet, email, messaging, has engulfed us with stimulation to hold our attention. We are part of this system. We willingly allow our attention to be captured.

As both a mental health counselor and college instructor I often ran into young people who had never turned off their phone. Some had no idea even how to turn off their phone. Just the idea of turning off their phone made them anxious.

In the midst of all of this it helps to remind ourselves that there is a higher goal to life then entertainment and consuming.

During this session we will not be debating theories or concepts, instead the session will move towards the experience of inner peace through relaxation, meditation and shifting our perceptions.

We hope you can join us.

Stephen
