Designing Commercial IoT Products: Ayla Networks and Renesas
Details
At the next Internet of Things DC Meetup we're thrilled to have two companies give talks on technologies and tools for building real-world connected device IoT products at commercial scale, e.g. thousands, hundreds of thousands, and millions of units.
Ayla Networks (https://www.aylanetworks.com/) is an agile IoT platform that enables customers to quickly connect any device to the cloud and build applications for mobile, web and data analytics applications. They handle critical functions like wireless modules for designing into circuit boards, gateway software for connecting groups of devices, device provisioning, secure communications over the Internet, over-the-air remote updates of embedded application programs, bi-directional command and data communications between device, cloud and mobile apps, time-stamped storage of data, user authentication, and cloud APIs for building mobile, web and server-side applications. Their technologies are used in multiple high-volume commercial products developed by companies ranging from startups to large established manufacturers.
Renesas Electronics (https://www.renesas.com/en-us/) is a global semiconductor manufacturer that makes a variety of microcontrollers and components for smart car, industrial Internet, home electronics, office automation, and communications products. It's the world's largest maker of microcontrollers, the world's largest auto semiconductor maker as of 2014, one of the largest makers of semiconductor components for mobile phones, and makes a variety of other components that are widely used in many automotive and electronic products. Their components and tools are used to design and build low-cost embedded circuit boards used in connected device IoT products.
This will be a great opportunity to hear about technologies and components behind commercial IoT products and learn more about the kinds of resources available for designing and building scalable IoT products and applications. It's also a great opportunity to network with members of the Internet of Things DC community and expand your knowledge about the Internet of Things.
