Hands-On with Alexa Skill

Details

Alexa is Amazon's cloud-based voice service that enables natural voice experiences for customers to interact with millions of devices from Amazon and third party manufacturers. Developers create this interaction using Alexa Skills, or voice-driven Alexa capabilities. Examples of skills include the ability to play music, answer general questions, set an alarm or timer, and more.

In this meetup, we will provide a general overview of Alexa, its capabilities and applications, and then get hands-on and attempt to build a simple Alexa skill that controls an embedded device such as a Raspberry Pi or Arduino.

To fully participate in the hands-on development, please make sure to bring a laptop, have an Alexa Developer account, and an embedded device. We will provide software to support Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
