What we’re about

What we’re about

Are you an introvert looking to make friends and build community in your city or neighborhood, with deeper, more authentic connections?

INTROVERTS UNITED: INTERNATIONAL is a Virtual-to-Real-Life Community, where members world-wide support one another in building local communities around shared interests.

Join INTROVERTS UNITED: INTERNATIONAL’s monthly meetings for engaging on-line discussions; I’ll share my successes (and challenges) with starting my own community here in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Then, we’ll share tips and suggestions for starting your own version of “INTROVERTS UNITED” community in your location.

INTROVERTS UNITED is designed for introverts (like me!) who want to cultivate deeper friendships online, before attending live social events together.

That’s right…before meeting your community, you’ll first break the ice with structured online activities and discussions…think:

Platonic speed “dating”
Listening Circles
Author & Book Studies
Guided Autobiography Writing
Guest Speakers: Authors, Artists, Musicians
Supported Improv Storytelling
Authentic Relating Games
Lectio Divina poetry readings
Guided Meditation & Breathwork
Art Classes & Music Appreciation
GTKY (Getting to Know You) Games & Activities
"Blind" GTKY (Zoom talks with cameras off; then meet in person)
Intergenerational Conversations (guided talks across the years)
Braver Angels: cross-partisan conversations
Human Library Project (guest speakers; Q&A on social prejudices)
Learn to create and host events in your own city; I’ll even help co-plan and co-facilite as you get going.

After meeting your community online, consider hosting LIVE events to find others who share your interests; imagine co-hosting LIVE events with your members: for example:

Creative workshops: open mic nights, poetry slams, art projects
Game nights that focus on fun and connection
Mindfulness and movement sessions: yoga, qigong, or dance
Casual coffee shop hangouts in cozy local spots
Book talks around mindfulness, creativity, and personal growth
Volunteer or community service days to give back together
Themed dinners celebrating different cultures or ideas
Skill shares where members teach hobbies, crafts, or skills
Film screenings followed by group conversations
Nature hikes or meditation walks
Pop-up art exhibits or informal performances showcasing our talents
Attend other Meetups together (after a GTKY and a preview online)
Day Trips and Weekend Retreats

I’ll share how I create a welcoming space for my local community online, by practicing:

mindful presence and compassionate communication
nonjudgemental acceptanc,
empathetic listening
curious questioning
turn taking
supportive feedback (interrupting or unsolicited advice discouraged)
appreciation & gratitude, and confidentiality.

We'll practice bringing out the best in ourselves… and each other.

Your Ideas Welcome! This group is a co-creative space — if you have ideas for events or want to co-lead an activity, please share. Your unique contributions help make our community vibrant, welcoming, and meaningful for everyone. Let’s build this together!
