Greetings, I’m Eric Vik Johnson, founder of “Introverts United.” Join me on Zoom this Monday, August 18th, to hear about my rather unconventional path toward financial freedom, and how that intersects with my struggle to overcome a lifetime of struggle with social anxiety. Here are just a few of the highlights:

* I saved $10,000 working at a grocery story for $3.50/hour (age 18-22) 
* I worked my way through college, taking nine years to get a B.S. in Education.
* My debt increased from $25k to $30k during my first three years of teaching.
* **Then I read *Your Money or Your Life* (by Robin & Dominguez)**
* At 31, I sold everything, quit my job, and put my student loan on forbearance. 
* I saved $10,000 in three months to fund my first *gap year.* 
* I spent a year backpacking and learning Spanish throughout South America
* I ended up teaching overseas for 20 years in Latin America, Europe and India
* In 2016, I spent two months in Iceland, one of the most expensive countries in Europe, living on $1000 per month. That’s when I realized I had reached financial independence (albeit on a boot-strapping entrepreneur’s budget)
* I spent the next seven years as a digital nomad, “tourist visa surfing” the world on $1000 per month (*then $1200 per month post covid*) throughout Europe, Egypt, Ghana, Turkey, Thailand, Bali, Brazil and Mexico
* In 2019, I launched my dream business: designing courses & retreats for introverts seeking social connection and community through a combination of mindfulness, authentic relating, play, and travel. 
* In 2024, I landed in Fort Collins to support my 96-year-old mother (made possible by reaching financial independence!)
* In 2025, I launched “Introverts United” to put into practice all I’ve learned about making friends with myself and others, living a life of purpose, and learning from other introverts about how they are coping, as Susan Cain puts it, “in a world that can’t stop talking.”
