Let's go bouldering @ Beest Boulders in Den Haag HS!

To the ones who are new to bouldering, it's a sport where we climb tracks on a wall (of maximum 4 meters tall), of varying levels of intensity. Apart from being a good workout, it's also quite a social place. A few tracks in the first level are very beginner friendly. Whether you're already experienced, or curious about it but don't know where to start, or somewhere inbetween - you're most welcome to join us!

Beest Boulders is located on the backside of Den Haag HS station, has a big bouldering arena, and has a cafe right inside the premises. You can check it out at https://beestboulders.com/boulderen/beest-boulders-den-haag/

Practicals:
1. We will meet at around 19:00 at the bouldering hall somewhere near the cafe. The organizer will drop a note in the comment about how to recognize the group just before the event starts. There is no real end time. Usually we get tired after 90 to 120 minutes of bouldering and either head for the cafe, for some food outside, or head back.
2. Entry cost for first time is €17.5 (which includes €12.5 entry fee + €5 for membership registration, and you get the membership card). Subsequent entry would be €12.5 (when you already have the membership card). You can just walk-in, and stay until 23:00 should you choose so. No prior booking/reservation needed.
3. Climbing shoe can be rented for €4.5.
4. Some of us like to use chalk powder to help with the grip & palm sweat. The chalk powder can either be rented for €3.5, or you can purchase a pouch. Or just ask the organizer for some :)
5. Any comfortable clothing should be good. The place has a changing room (separate for men & women) to change & freshen up. This is already included in the cost.

FAQs:
1. Am I going to get injured?
The floors are cushion padded. And a few tracks in the first level are very beginner friendly, and are more akin to climbing a ladder. It gets progressively difficult. Of course accidents can happen at any sports including Bouldering, but this is not an extreme sport like some of us might have imagined.

2. What are the rules of the game? Why do I see many colors in the grips & walls?
The grips are color coded, based on the level. Data about which color represents what level is pasted all across the place. Every track has a starting point (marked by black tapes. This is where your hands start), and an end point (marked by red tapes. This is where your hands end). You start with a track and climb up the grips of same color up the wall. Just ask the organizer to understand more about the specifics.

3. Is this the one where there's a rope attached to me, and I climb a 50 meter wall?
No, the sport on the high wall where we need a safety harness via ropes is called 'Wall climbing' and is a sister company of Beest Boulders called Klimmuur (https://www.deklimmuur.nl/klimmen/klimmuur-hollandsspoor/). Currently it's not part of the meetup, but might be included later. Feel free to check it out though.
