Details
We will be walking for a great cause and raising funds as a team. This is a great way to support a meaningful cause while also being able to walk the 2 mile course.
Here is the link to sign up and register and also donate too. You can set your own individual goal and also see the team goal I have set for fundraising.
Look for our team name Introverts Hangout and my name will be listed as team captain. Plan to meet up by 8:30 to check in everyone and get ready for the opening festivities.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Crystal Lake is a community fundraising event held in downtown Crystal Lake to support Alzheimer’s care, research, and awareness. The colored flowers you see at the event—called the Promise Garden—each represent a different personal connection to the disease.
🌿 What the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Crystal Lake is the world’s largest Alzheimer’s awareness and fundraising event, held annually in more than 600 communities. Crystal Lake hosts its walk in the downtown area, typically beginning at 26 N. Williams Street, with festivities starting around 8:00 a.m. and the walk beginning shortly after the opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m.
The event brings together families, caregivers, supporters, and those living with Alzheimer’s to raise funds for research, local support programs, and advocacy. It’s not a race—people of all ages and abilities participate. A key emotional moment of the event is the Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants hold up colored flowers that symbolize their personal reason for walking.
🌸 What the Flower Colors Mean (Promise Garden) Each flower color represents a different relationship to Alzheimer’s:
• Blue — You are living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. This color honors individuals currently facing the disease.
• Purple — You have lost someone to Alzheimer’s. This flower represents remembrance and grief for loved ones who have passed.
• Yellow — You are supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. It symbolizes caregivers and the essential role they play.
• Orange — You support the cause and the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. This is for advocates who may not have a personal connection but believe in the mission.
• White — Hope for the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Only one white flower is typically displayed, symbolizing the future goal of a cure.
🌼 Why the Colors Matter The Promise Garden is designed to show the collective strength and diverse experiences of the community. When each color is announced during the ceremony, participants raise their flowers, creating a powerful visual representation of hope, loss, support, and determination.
