Shadow Sides of Health and Personal Growth
Details
"We find that by opening the door to the shadow realm a little, and letting out various elements a few at a time, relating to them, finding use for them, negotiating, we can reduce being surprised by shadow sneak attacks and unexpected explosions.”
- Clarissa Pinkola Estes
"Shadow Work" is the process of identifying, accepting, owning, and integrating those parts of ourselves we once packed away in the basement of our consciousness. This is about becoming whole.
You will complete this workshop with:
-
Profound experience of transformation,
-
Clear understanding of several of your own shadow aspects, and
-
Tools you can use on your own to continue to heal and release limitations related to these shadows.
We'll also give you homework assignments to work on between workshop series so that you can get the most out of the material you learn at each session.
This is the first of a three-part series using interactive NLP, reflective exercises from Debbie Ford's Shadow Side of the Light Chasers, guided meditation, and family constellations to explore the shadow.
Saturday June 8th: Shadow Side of Relationships and Career
Saturday June 22nd: Shadow Side of Health and Personal Growth

These workshops are designed to be taken either in a series or individually.
The Willow Center is two blocks from Lafayette Bart and has plenty of parking.
Carl Jung coined the term "The Shadow" to describe parts of the unconscious. Here we use the term "shadow" to describe the aspect of ourselves we have disowned and then forgotten. These parts are related to some behavior our parents or society told us was unacceptable. Our response, usually as children, was to hide the behavior, or part, from ourselves and others. Eventually we forgot that the part had ever been a part of us. The result was that these parts did not disappear but merely moved to the recesses of the unconscious only to rear their heads in the form of projections. You can begin to identify a person's shadow by recognizing the traits they judge or criticize in others yet refuse to see in themselves. We unconsciously project our shadows onto the outside world in hopes that the outside world will reflect back to us the traits related to the abandoned parts of ourselves so that we may recognize and reclaim them.
