Details

HELLO,
WELCOME TO THE TALKS

After a brief post-Summit hiatus, we're glad to be back, with a wonderful talk from Natasha Murashev, aka @NatashaTheRobot (https://twitter.com/NatashaTheRobot), and a long awaited talk by the equally wonderful Green Knight!

Please note: we are not at Skills Matter this time, come to Makers Academy. We'll email shortly with a "how to find us" guide, and possibly employ a rabbit with a pocket watch to lead the way.

THIS EVENT, WE PRESENT

Natasha Murashev | @NatashaTheRobot

Title: Unleash the Power of Playgrounds

Swift Playgrounds offer an unprecedented opportunity to experiment, learn and teach others to code in a very powerful way. Learn the ins and outs of Swift Playgrounds, including advanced tips and tricks to apply to your own coding process and that you can use to teach and play with others.

Natasha (https://twitter.com/natashatherobot) is a Swift and WatchKit enthusiast who writes about her experiences with this still developing technology on natashatherobot.com (http://natashatherobot.com/) and in her weekly Swift newsletter (http://swiftnews.curated.co/). She currently works as an iOS engineer for Capital One in San Francisco. In her free time, she works on personal projects, speaks at meetups and conferences, and contributes to open source.

Title: Adventures with Enums

A talk that we've almost had once before, but bad luck intervened. After many months of adventures, and misadventures, we're very glad to confirm that Green Knight will be talking about everything enums.

We’ll explore the role of enums in the Swift ecosystem, starting with an examination of what they can (and cannot) do, moving to examples of how to employ them to handle multiple datatypes, maintain type safety, and provide safe defaults. We end with speculations about new, as yet uncharted development patterns.

SCHEDULE

Doors open at 6:30pm
Talks start around 7pm

REGISTRATION

As we're not at Skills Matter this month, you don't need to register anywhere but here. Enjoy!

NOTIFICATIONS

Follow @SwiftLDNMeetup (https://twitter.com/SwiftLDNMeetup) for announcements only - Turn on notifications for RSVP alerts and last minute updates (look for the cog). Infrequent but important.

Follow @SwiftLDN (https://twitter.com/SwiftLDN) for everything else. Most things happen here.

SPEAK AT SWIFT LONDON

Each month we have up to three speaker slots, in general 20 minutes each, but quite flexible. If you'd like to do a shorter talk, say 5-10 minutes, it's worth getting in touch, we'll do our best to fit you in.

For each event a woman will be given priority. Everyone is encouraged to talk: it's a great way to give back to the community, get to know each other, and focus your thoughts.

Volunteer to talk: Twitter (https://twitter.com/SwiftLDN) | Email (helloswiftlondon@gmail.com)

CODE OF CONDUCT

While at the meetup (and hopefully in your life outside), all attendees are asked to behave respectfully in accordance with our CODE OF CONDUCT (https://www.meetup.com/swiftlondon/pages/Code_of_Conduct_%7C_Safe_Spaces).

In short: be nice, be respectful, consider others.
