Helen Leigh is a creative technologist who specialises in music technologies, experimental electronics and education. She is Head of Community at Crowd Supply, a crowdfunding platform for open, ethical hardware products. Leigh is the author of DIY Music Tech, The Crafty Kid’s Guide to DIY Electronics, and a regular column on hardware for Make Magazine.

I'm going to talk about open source hardware and take you through some exciting new open source projects that IOT enthusiasts might find inspiring. I'll also introduce my own body of work, including a whistle stop tour of my favourite microcontrollers and single board computers for experimental music making, and a look at how I used a $10 microcontroller to make a series of gesture controlled robot unicorns. Expect noise, nerdiness and some unusual uses of hardware!
