18:15 - 18:20 WELCOME

18:20 - 18:30 Simon Montford (http://www.simonmontford.com/) (WEB3//IOT (http://www.web3iot.com/))

Open Forum; members are invited to make announcements, share news, seek project collaborators, promote their IoT events, and request topics for future Meetups.

18.30 - 18.50 Daniel Whaley (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/dwhaley-speech-ux) (Sabio (http://www.sabio.co.uk/))

With the seemingly exponential rise of connected devices from wearables to smart home devices, automotive and beyond there is a need to build interfaces to allow low effort interactions. Humans are naturally wired for speech. This combined with improvements in speech recognition and natural language understanding are making voice the ideal interface. We will look at the growth of the ubiquitous voice revolution and how it stands to transform the way we interact with connected devices.

18:50 - 19:10 Sérgio Sena (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/assena/en) (SMRU Instrumentation (http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/Instrumentation/Overview/))

Sérgio will talk about his work in the area of low-power hardware, Biologing, and marine animal borne telemetry. His work focuses on hardware and making sure data collected from remote sensors is transmitted accurately.

19:10 - 19:30 Gordon Guthrie (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/gordonguthrie1)(Basho (http://basho.com/))

It is not uncommon for IoT devices to stream status data to a central server where that data must be stored, aggregated, rolled-up and processed. Basho, the makers of the availability database Riak, have a new Time Series variant focussing specifically on Time Series data. Riak TS (http://basho.com/products/) is highly available for writing data, and enables large data sets to be captured. In this talk Gordon will provide an overview of the product, and will explain how and when it can be used in the context of data generated by IoT devices.

19:30 -19:50 DISCUSSION & PANEL Q&A

19:50 - 21:00 NETWORKING & DRINKS
