18:15 - 18:20 WELCOME
18:20 - 18:30 Simon Montford (http://www.simonmontford.com/) (WEB3//IOT (http://www.web3iot.com/))
Open Forum; members are invited to make announcements, share news, seek project collaborators, promote their IoT events, and request topics for future Meetups.
18.30 - 18.50 Valentin Radu (https://www.linkedin.com/in/vradu10) (University of Edinburgh (http://www.ed.ac.uk/informatics))
The mobile devices we carry in our pockets hold the power to track our every move. By taking advantage of their multitude of sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, barometer, etc.) smartphones can perform diverse user context detections (e.g., indoor localization, activity recognition) reliably. This talk will focus on the positive aspects of having access to these inferences for home/building automation.
18:50 - 19:10 Sérgio Sena (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/assena/en) (SMRU Instrumentation (http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/Instrumentation/Overview/))
Sérgio will talk about his work in the area of low-power hardware, Biologing, and marine animal borne telemetry. His work focuses on hardware and making sure data collected from remote sensors is transmitted accurately.
19:10 - 19:30 Colin Hickey (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/colinmhickey) (Sky Futures (http://www.sky-futures.com/))
How Drones, Cloud Technology and Image Analysis are changing the way that people inspect critical infrastructure. Sky-Futures began offering drone inspection services in the north sea, and have now pivoted to also offer a suite of software products supporting drone inspection of vertical structures. We’ll look at inspecting wind turbines, ships, oil rigs, bridges and look at the future of how the drone-in-a-box concept will completely disrupt traditional manual inspection in the next couple of years.
19:30 -19:50 DISCUSSION & PANEL Q&A
19:50 - 21:00 NETWORKING & DRINKS
