18:15 - 18:20 WELCOME
18:20 - 18:30 Simon Montford (WEB3//IOT)
Open Forum; members are invited to make announcements, share news, seek project collaborators, promote their IoT events, and request topics for future Meetups.
18:30 - 18:50 Kieran O' Leary (Mixed Signal Systems)
Over the last 15 years, Kieran has worked for a number of the world’s leading semiconductor companies as an electronic engineer focused on mixed-signal electronics, embedded systems, and the IoT. He will share his industry knowledge to help those wishing to design, manufacture, and ship high quality innovative products. Without getting overly technical, he will use real-world examples to describe how a typical IOT device is developed and manufactured, and will show you how to get started in IOT hardware and firmware development. Finally he will cover common challenges and typical pitfalls of taking a product from prototype to production.
18:50 - 19.10 Phil Crooks (Etive)
City4Age is an EU project focused on producing elderly-friendly city services to support the independence and wellbeing of older citizens. A consortium of 16 organisations were created to help solve the challenges of ageing in today's society by using non-intrusive, IoT technologies to monitor citizens as they move around their environments. The solutions are being tested in six locations: Athens, Birmingham, Lecce, Madrid, Montpellier, and Singapore. This presentation is based on the paper presented at SoftCom 2017 and concentrates on the work Etive Technologies have done for Birmingham City Council.
19:10 - 19:30 Christopher McCann (Snap40)
snap40 has developed an innovative wireless wearable device, that can monitor more vital signs than any other single device available - including change in BP and respiratory rate. Data from their devices can be used to automatically identify patients who's health is about to deteriorate thereby facilitating early patient intervention. It can also reduce patient stays, reduce instances of readmission, and even remove the need for hospitalisation.
19:30 -19:50 DISCUSSION & PANEL Q&A
19:50 - 21:00 NETWORKING & DRINKS
