URGENT! Chg in Presenter: "Quantum, AI & Blockchain: The Hype Got Fact-Checked"
Details
Due to sudden illness, Pete DeNagy will not be able to present this Thursday (he will undergo serious dental surgery this Thursday to address a nasty abscess—please keep Pete in your prayers).
Yeshwant Muthusamy, Ph.D. has agreed to step in and update us on the status of Quantum, AI and Blockchain:
Title:
"Quantum, AI & Blockchain: The Hype Got Fact-Checked — The Convergence Got Real"
A lot has happened over the last six months. Here is an overview of the talk he'll give this Thursday evening:
Abstract:
Since spring 2026, the headlines have been loud:
"Google moves Q-Day to 2029." "IBM achieves quantum advantage." "AI agents are now paying each other." How much of that is real, and how much is spin traveling faster than the facts?
This talk cuts through the noise on the convergence of AI, blockchain, and quantum computing. We'll fact-check the "Y2Q moved up" claim against what IonQ and Google actually said, and scrutinize what IBM's "70 logical qubits" milestone really means.
We'll look at real commercial traction — Quantinuum's new quantum computer inside an Oracle AI data center, and a Mayo Clinic team that just won a Berlin hackathon building a quantum brain-signal model for paralysis patients.
And we'll examine something genuinely new:
AI agents now autonomously paying each other on blockchain rails, moving millions in machine-to-machine transactions with no human in the loop.
A brief primer grounds newcomers in core concepts, but most of the talk focuses on what's changed in the last five months — separating real progress from hype, with sources you can verify yourself.
Yeshwant Muthusamy, Ph.D. bio:
The speaker chairs the AI Working Group at the Government Blockchain Association (GBA) and will be presenting on this same convergence theme at GBA's Future of Money, Governance and Law Conference in DC and NYC (https://gbaglobal.org/FOMGL).
Attendees interested in the intersection with financial services and policy are welcome to join GBA's upcoming EmergingTech webinar on AI, Blockchain & Quantum in Financial Services.
