I am using the open litter map to track picking up litter. I started a group on the open litter map site for Iowa City. I am hoping you will join the group, and we can meet to share what we are seeing, prevention strategies, team cleanups, and have some fun. You are also welcome and encouraged to join if you would prefer to not use the app as the goal is to reduce litter in Iowa City.

Whispering Meadows Wetland
Ingigo Ct. Playground, Indigo Ct., Iowa City, IA, USOur final pickup for the 2026 Litter Season will be at Whispering Meadows Wetland. There is typically a lot of litter and ground to cover, so if you are able to participate it would be wonderful. This is a great little park with lots of wildlife and they will appreciate it too.
If we get a larger group we will split a group off to cover the lake area, a group to cover the trail, and a group to cover the storm drain things that get clogged as well as the area around the decking that goes over the water.
We will meet at the Indigo Court playground.
Starting LocationAs always, please bring your own gloves. We will have gloves to share if you forget, along with litter grabbers and bags. Wear appropriate clothing for the event, and know that you are responsible for your own your safety. If you feel uncomfortable about picking something up because of the terrain or because of the item itself or some other reason, please leave it there. There is plenty of other litter to pick up.

Sycamore Greenway
Location not specified yetLet's clean up the Sycamore Greenway area! We are going to meet near the intersection of Sherman Drive and Whispering Meadow Drive. We will split into 2 groups, one to go east and the other to go south as shown in the picture.
Starting LocationWe will meet at Zoetic Coffee afterwards to warm up and socialize.
As always, please bring your own gloves. We will have gloves to share if you forget, along with litter grabbers and bags.
